OFF-CAMPUS
Harvesters:
A community food service network that repackages and sorts through
food and other material items so that they can be reused and donated to the less
fortunate. AS a group, ZTA members go and help sort through tons and tons of food
to make sure that it is safe and edible enough to be passed on to other families.
Ronald McDonald House:
The Kansas City Ronald McDonald House provides the comforts of home for families of
critically ill children who travel to Kansas City for medical treatment. As a group,
ZTA members go to the house and prepare a meal for the guests staying there as well as
other duties needed.
House of Menuha:
House of Menuha provides a nurturing environment for women to experience personal rest,
reflection and renewal of mind, body and spirit, so that each is strengthened and better
equipped to enrich their family and the community. ZTA has committed themselves to being
'cookie bakers' throughout the year to provide the women of the house with nice treats.
We deliver them on a month to month basis for them to enjoy!!
Habitat for Humanity:
This is a non-profit organization whose goal is to build affordable, energy-efficient
houses on inner-city sites. These houses are sold at a 'no-profit-no interest' to
low-income families who cannot otherwise acquire decent shelter. As a group, ZTA gets
up early on Saturday and helps in the building and restructuring of these houses.
We do lots of yard work and even build things we didn't even know we could build!
American Red Cross:
Members of ZTA are constantly donating blood, but in an effort to help increase this,
we are getting ready to sponsor a blood drive on Sept 8, 2005. It will be a campus-wide
and community-wide event, so plan on being there!!
Christmas in October Project:
Every year in October, this project aids and supports families of the less fortunate.
This year, we made fleece scarves together in our chapter room and donated them to the
families and kids being supported by this project. We helped assist 271 people in 108
households with food and gifts for Christmas.
